Longlisted Poem: “Lying in State”
Clive Uche is based in Lagos. His work explores grief, memory, and the fragile boundary between the living and the dead, with particular attention to the cultural and spiritual weight of ritual. Drawing from Igbo cosmology, his poetry interrogates silence, inheritance, and the consequences of what is left undone, especially in moments of loss.
